Baby Talk at Vancity Theatre

On Monday, January 23rd, 2017, as part of the UBC University Killam Professor Lecture Series, Dr. Janet F. Werker hosted a special screening and discussion of the acclaimed documentary Babies, directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Balmès. In conversation with Dr. Krista Byers-Heinlen, Associate Professor of Psychology at Concordia (and a former graduate student of Janet’s), Janet shed light on how the foundations of language begin in early infancy, and how the acquisition of two or more languages from birth comes as naturally as learning a single mother tongue.

This event was presented by UBC’s Office of the VP Research and Office of the Prvost & VP Academic in partnership with the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies and Alumni UBC.

Stay tuned! Future events involving our Centre will be posted on our website as well as on the Events page of the UBC Psychology website.
