Dr. Janet Werker, Director of the Infant Studies Centre, has been awarded the 2015 Gold Medal from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).  Janet is the first UBC Professor to receive this award, SSHRC’s highest distinction, given to individuals whose sustained leadership, dedication, and originality of thought have inspired colleagues and students alike. Over the course of a 30-year career, she has fundamentally changed how we understand language acquisition.
